We are currently seeking an Estate Administration Attorney to join our team. In this role the lawyer will be responsible for overseeing the administration of estates and trusts, advising clients on complex probate matters, and representing clients in court when necessary. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of estate administration, probate law, trust management, and estate tax with the ability to manage a diverse caseload of estate matters. Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversee and manage the full range of estate administration tasks, including probate, trust administration, and asset distribution.
  • Provide expert legal advice to clients regarding the probate process, estate planning, trust administration, and estate tax.
  • Draft and file probate petitions, trust documents, and court filings related to estate matters.
  • Represent clients in probate court hearings, including petitions for probate, will contests, and disputes over trust administration.
  • Advise fiduciaries (executors, trustees) on their duties and obligations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and court rules.
  • Assist clients with estate tax filings, estate inventories, and accountings.
  • Review and interpret estate planning documents such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
  • Research and analyze legal issues related to estate planning and probate law.
  • Resolve complex issues involving contested estates, including disputes among beneficiaries, creditors, or family members.
  • Manage client relationships while providing clear communication and ensuring timely and effective resolution of matters.
  • Stay updated on changes in estate planning laws, tax laws, and probate court procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in New York.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate administration, probate, and trust law.
  • Strong knowledge of probate procedures, estate and trust law, and fiduciary duties.
  • Proven experience in handling complex probate cases and trust disputes.
  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

Salary Range & Benefits:

  • $85,000 – $100,000
  • 401K match (after vesting period)
  • Health insurance contribution
