Position Overview: We are seeking a full-time, highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant / Paralegal to support our attorneys in handling estate planning matters. The ideal candidate will have strong administrative skills, be highly detail oriented, and able to communicate clearly and professionally. The role requires a high degree of client contact and interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft general correspondence, retainer agreements, advance directives, and deeds
  • Communicate clearly with clients, families, attorneys and office staff
  • Organize and maintain physical and digital case files
  • Track deadlines and ensure timely follow-up
  • Handle general administrative tasks including correspondence and document management
  • Coordinate client meetings, document signings, notarizations, and witnessing procedures

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a legal assistant/paralegal, preferably in elder law and estate planning
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Compassion and professionalism when working with elderly clients and their families
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Notary Public preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with minimal supervision

About our Firm: We are an elder law and estate planning law firm headquartered in Smithtown, NY with fully staffed offices in Melville and Garden City. This is a new position we are adding as our firm continues to grow. We are a prominent and preeminent firm on Long Island. We are small enough to operate as a boutique law firm and give clients the attention and compassion they deserve yet big enough that our paralegals, attorneys and staff support each other and our clients in a collaborative and meaningful way. A significant number of our attorneys and staff have been working at the firm together for over a decade. We look forward to the next successful decade.

Salary Range & Benefits:

  • $62,000 - $80,000
  • 401K and matching (after vesting period)
  • Health insurance contribution
  • 23 days paid time off and 10 paid holidays
