Created by Diane Palma of Digho Arts and Kieran Johnson of the Huntington Arts Council, in partnership with the Huntington Chamber of Commerce, the PUBlic Art Crawl was put into place as a safe way for people to enjoy the public-facing art throughout Huntington. The goal of the event is to drive commerce throughout town while also highlighting the rich history of art throughout the streets. There are so many murals throughout town that we all just pass by: why not highlight them? As a Chamber of Commerce, our goal is to support all businesses while attracting tourism to the town and this crawl is a fantastic way to do so. By highlighting artists through the Local Looks program, mural sponsorships, and the Digho Musemarket, we’re creating an environment that celebrates the importance of art to local commerce. In addition, by creating a “Crawl” along the way with retailers and restaurants, we’re driving business to different spots.
